Belgrade, November 9, 2017 – The Cooperation Agreement that was concluded today between the University in Priština and the Innovation Fund will support the researches from this University in their efforts to market their research with commercial potential.

This Agreement is a basis for the participation of the University in the Serbia Research, Innovation, and Technology Transfer Project funded through IPA 2013 with the goal to promote cooperation between academia and private sector in view of the commercialisation of scientific-research results and the improvement of technology transfer.

In the presence of Mr. Nenad Popović, Minister for Innovation and Technological Development, the Agreement was signed by Prof. Blagoje Nedeljković, PhD, Acting Principal of the University in Priština temporarily headquartered in Kosovska Mitrovica, on behalf of the University in Priština, and Ivan Rakonjac, Director, on behalf of the Innovation Fund.

“Conclusion of this Agreement manifests the cooperation between the Government of Serbia and the universities in the territory of the entire Republic of Serbia, being aware, of course, that the University in Priština is an important and unavoidable part of Serbian academic community. This Agreement will greatly encourage other universities and faculties in Serbia to join the Innovation Fund programmes considering that the Innovation Fund is essentially striving to connect science and industry.”, said Mr. Nenad Popović, Minister for Innovation and Technological Development.

“The signing of this Agreement will further promote the activity of our university as the highest educational and scientific institution in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, within the educational system of the Republic of Serbia. The University and the research and science staff of our University will join the work on the development of scientific-research activities and the transfer of technology to the economic operators in the Republic of Serbia, as well as in the region. We believe that overall HR potential of the University in Priština, temporarily headquartered in Kosovska Mitrovica, will contribute both to the development of the scientific thought and research and to bringing together the research and science staff throughout the region and beyond, in Europe. The conclusion of this Agreement confirms again that our University is indubitably a member of the university family in Serbia, and, subsequently, the European zone of university education and science.”, said Prof. Blagoje Nedeljković, PhD, Acting Principal of the University in Priština temporarily headquartered in Kosovska Mitrovica.

“The Agreement between the Fund and the University defines the cooperation with regard to the development of capacity for applied scientific-research work, innovations, technology transfer, and commercialisation. We are really pleased that the University in Priština joined the Technology Transfer Programme since this enables it to, at a single place, get all the support for marketing of the results of its research.”, said Mr. Ivan Rakonjac, Director of the Innovation Fund.

To date, the Fund has concluded four cooperation agreements within this programme, namely, with the University in Belgrade, University in Niš, University in Novi Sad, and University of Defence in Belgrade. Seven projects received financial support for innovative development projects (in the total value of RSD 12.76 million).
