Belgrade, June 3, 2016 – With the signing today of the Memorandum of Agreement, the University of Niš officially joined the TTF Program, implemented by the Innovation Fund.

The Memorandum was signed by Rector prof. Dragan Antić and the Fund’s interim general manager Ivan Rakonjac, in Niš.

The same document of cooperation has already been signed with the University of Belgrade and the University of Novi Sad.

The program is a pilot activity aimed to support the R&D community in Serbia. Through its mechanisms, the local technology transfer organizations at four universities – Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš and Kragujevac – as well as public-sector R&D institutes are enabled to identify a private-sector partner for the development of their research with commercial potential and get it to the market.

It is part of the EUR 6.9 million Serbia Research, Innovation and Technology Transfer Project, which is financed by the European Union from its IPA pre-accession funds in the amount of EUR 4.9 million, and co-financed by the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian private sector in the amount of EUR 1 million each. It is implemented by the Innovation Fund in cooperation with the World Bank.

Originally under the patronage of the University of Belgrade, the University of Niš started operating as an independent level-granting institution in 1965. It now includes 13 faculties.
